Maintenance Technician Job Description POSITION
Summary:
The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance and repairs at all facilities, structures, properties (buildings and grounds), equipment, and vehicles owned or rented by York County Shelter Programs, Inc.
as assigned.
This position is classified as non-exempt hourly and reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or the Housing Manager.
DUTIES:
Makes needed repairs to all YCSP facilities, structures, properties, equipment, fixtures, and vehicles except that which require special skills, training, and/or certification; Maintains through the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Housing Manager an adequate supply of all routine items, tools, supplies, and equipment needed to perform maintenance and repairs; Assists with maintaining an accurate inventory system for all tools, supplies, and equipment used to perform maintenance and repairs; Informs the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Housing Manager of any major problems or repairs needed beyond the in-house capability to accomplish; Assists with the preventative maintenance plan on all YCSP facilities, structures, properties, equipment, fixtures, and vehicles; Weekly emergency on-call is shared on a rotating basis with the maintenance staff members; Performs additional duties and related tasks as needed or directed by proper authority.
Must be able to work independently.
Report to Supervisor for any changes to their pre-assigned work week schedule.
And all other duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS/HAZARDS:
This position requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, as well as lifting boxes and manipulation of equipment.
It requires contact with clients/residents, volunteers, agency staff, and the public.
This position may result in exposure to biomedical hazards (i.
e.
infectious disease and body waste/discharge) and contact with clients/residents who may at times in the course of their recovery become agitated.
The employee may be required to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds REQUIRED JOB SKILLS:
Must have a general knowledge of carpentry, electricity, plumbing, mechanical systems, vehicles, and refrigeration.
(Certification is preferred.
) Must be able to make repairs to equipment, fixtures and structures.
Must be able to remain calm under stressful circumstances and be able to safeguard confidential client relations and information.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Vocational School, training in maintenance, military experience in maintenance or a combination of experience and training that is equivalent.
